Police Granted Extension to Question Man in Newmarket Murder Investigation

Authorities in Suffolk have been granted additional time to question a man arrested in connection with a woman’s death in Newmarket. The incident occurred on November 28, 2023, when emergency services responded to a call at an address on Exning Road shortly before 10 a.m. Upon arrival, they discovered a woman in her 40s who was later pronounced dead at the scene.

Initially, two men, aged 47 and 38, were arrested on suspicion of murder. However, on November 30, 2023, police released the 38-year-old man without further action. The 47-year-old man remains in custody, and detectives have been granted an extension to continue questioning him. A police cordon remains in place on Exning Road as investigations continue, and the public is advised to expect an increased police presence in the area.

This development marks a significant step in the ongoing investigation into the woman’s death. Authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward to assist in the inquiry. The identity of the deceased woman has not been publicly released, and police are working to inform her next of kin.

The granting of an extension to question the suspect indicates that investigators are pursuing all avenues to determine the circumstances surrounding the woman’s death. As the investigation progresses, further updates are expected to be provided to the public.
