Human remains have been discovered in Derby as part of a murder inquiry into the disappearance of Izabela Helena Zablocka, who was last seen 15 years ago. Derbyshire Police launched an investigation into her disappearance after receiving a missing person’s report in May. The remains were found in the garden of a property on Princes Street in Normanton, Derby. While formal identification is pending, police believe the remains belong to Ms. Zablocka.
The 39-year-old woman arrested over the weekend has since been re-arrested, while three others, a 39-year-old woman, a 43-year-old woman, and a 41-year-old man, remain on bail pending further inquiries.
Ms. Zablocka, originally from Poland, moved to the UK in 2009. Her family lost contact with her in August 2010, and despite their efforts, she was never found. Police have been in contact with her family in Poland to inform them of the developments.
Detective Inspector Kane Martin stated that the identification process is expected to be lengthy. Officers will remain in the area in the coming days, and residents with concerns are encouraged to speak with them.
The investigation continues as detectives work to piece together information about the events leading up to Ms. Zablocka’s death.
