Nine Arrested After ‘Hitler Birthday Party’ at UK Pub Sparks Raids

Nine people have been arrested following a disturbing neo-Nazi gathering in an Oldham pub where attendees allegedly celebrated Adolf Hitler’s birthday with swastika-emblazoned cake and flags. The far-right group, British Movement North West, reportedly hosted the event at the Duke of Edinburgh pub in Royton, later posting images online that prompted public outrage and a swift police response.

Greater Manchester Police carried out coordinated raids across Rochdale, Bolton, Trafford, Stockport, and Southport, seizing weapons including swords, a crossbow, imitation firearms, and a suspected grenade. The individuals were arrested under Section 18 of the Public Order Act for offences related to inciting racial hatred. Bomb disposal experts were called in to examine the grenade, which was later deemed safe.

Police said the group had tricked pub staff into hosting the gathering, concealing their Nazi symbols until inside. Officers remain at several locations while searches continue, and additional patrols have been deployed to reassure local communities. Assistant Chief Constable Steph Parker said the force is taking these matters seriously to ensure residents “live without fear of intimidation or harm.”

Although the investigation is ongoing, authorities believe there is no wider threat to the public. A website linked to the neo-Nazi group described the gathering as a celebration of “Uncle A’s 136th birthday,” featuring “laughter and lively conversation” among members planning future activities.
